Aging in man is a gradual process. He experiences changes in his energy level, body structure, fat distribution and mental prowess. Men’s health issues are often neglected. Risks of developing illness such as hypertension, diabetes, prostate enlargement and cancer
(oncology) increase with age. Sexual function declines but at a variable rate between individuals. Treatment for erectile dysfunction
is available and effective. However, several cases of unsupervised therapy recently, had lead to undesirable complications and death.Testosterone or male hormone replacement therapy is another attractive and promising solution to the problem of the waning manhood.
As part of community outreach, Dr Ho and Selangor Chinese Chamber of Commerce organized a Public Forum on the aging man. This was
conducted in Mandarin at he Chinese Assembly Hall in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Urology conditions such as prostate enlargement,
kidney stone, cancer and incontinence are common problems encountered as a man ages. Understanding these conditions is critical in
order to recognize them at an early stage. Treatment can then be effectively instituted.
